Whenever I walked by the bird cages in Gruga Park, I often regretted going to the park. The birds often didn’t look very healthy and the cages didn’t seem super modern either. In general, I am not a fan of caged animals and birds certainly the least. When I asked a Gruga employee about the condition of the birds, however, I learned that the birds were all taken in from homes where the owner did not properly care for the exotic animals. Since then I have had a better relationship with the bird cages and can enjoy the song of the birds that were “rescued” by the Gruga again. Recentley I brought my microphones with me and was thrilled by the loud blue and yellow macaws, the imitations of the gray parrots and the happy crackling of the yellow-fronted and yellow-naped amazons.

Wenn ich im Gruga Park an den Vogelkäfigen vorbei gekommen bin, habe ich oft bereut in den Park gegangen zu sein. Die Vögel sahen oft nicht sehr gesund aus und die Käfige schienen auch nicht super modern. Allgemein bin ich kein Freund von Tieren in Käfigen und Vögel sicherlich als letztes. Als ich einen Gruga Mitarbeiter auf den Zustand der Vögel angesprochen habe, habe ich allerdings erfahren, dass die Vögel allesamt aufgenommen wurden, aus Haltungen, wo der Besitzer die exotischen Tiere nicht richtig gepflegt hat. Seit dem habe ich ein besseres Verhältniss zu den Vogelkäfigen und kann den Gesang der Vögel, die von der Gruga “gerettet” wurden, wieder besser genießen. Jetzt habe ich auch mal meine Mikrofone mitgebracht und war begeistert von den lauten Gelbbrust Aras, den Imitationen der Graupapageien und dem föhlichen Geknister der Gelbstirn- und Gelbbrust Amazonen.
