This is just a short post to refer to a sound art and concert festival that is currently taking place in Essen and other cities in the Ruhr area. The Blaues Rauschen Festival has a wide programme of experimental electronic music and sound experiments. This year my collage “ReVinyl” is also part of the programme and can be heard live on site, but also online.

Here is a link to the piece, which consists of unedited field recordings from the pressing plant Matter of Fact. In five minutes, the processes behind the recycling of vinyl are acoustically demonstrated, as a paean to technological progress, but also questioning and showing the enormous resource input behind a production:

Dies ist nur ein kurzer Post um auf ein Klangkunst und Konzert Festival zu verweisen, welches zur Zeit in Essen und weiteren Ruhrgebietsstädten statt findet. Das Blaues Rauschen Festival hat ein breites Programm mit experimenteller elektronischer Musik und soundart. Dieses Jahr ist auch meine Kollage “ReVinyl” Teil des Programms und live vor Ort, aber auch online, zu hören.

In fünf Minuten werden die Prozesse hinter dem recyceln von Vinyl akustisch vorgeführt, als Lobgesang auf den technologischen Fortschritt, aber auch hinterfragend und aufzeigend, welcher enormer Ressourcen – Einsatz hinter einer Produktion steht:
