Sound of Essen 
As a sound designer for fiction podcasts, I’d been putting off investing significantly in my local sfx library. For years, I’d make my own recordings when time allowed, but often rely on annual subscription platforms, like SoundSnap.com, or one-off licenses from sites like Pond5. After adding an incomplete, but strong generalist collection of packs included with a Krotos Studio bundle and discovering the joy and power of SoundMiner, I decided to start looking for complete collections to build a stronger foundation of offline sounds.
I discovered Sound of Essen through the thorough the animal packs but was sold on the complete collection by the inclusion of extremely useful generalist libraries, like “Elevators,” “Coffee,” “Rain Designer,” and “Decompression,” to name a few. The recording quality is stellar, and the high sample rate enables lots of freedom for experimentation (“Queetsh” especially). While it definitely helped me to pick this up on holiday promotion, the full price still offers more value than the big-name studios’ large bundles.
